THE COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS SEEKING THE PUBLIC’S HELP IN LOCATING A PERSON OF INTEREST IN A HOMICIDE THAT OCCURRED ON MARCH 1ST. ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE, OFFICERS ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF COLUMBIA FIRE AND RESCUE RESPONDED TO A REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE ON SKYLINE DRIVE. UPON ARRIVAL, THE RESIDENCE WAS FOUND TO BE ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND DURING THE SEARCH OF THE HOME, THE BODY OF 27-YEAR-OLD DEVERIC KEONTA RENFRO WAS LOCATED DECEASED. INVESTIGATORS DETERMINED THAT RENFRO SUFFERED A GUNSHOT WOUND PRIOR TO THE FIRE BEING SET AND HAVE IDENTIFIED QUORTEZ DESHAWN DUNCAN, 32, AS A PERSON OF INTEREST. DUNCAN HAS AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT AND HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANY CRIMINAL OFFENSE IN RELATION TO THIS INVESTIGATION.
