THE FLORENCE CITY COUNCIL ON TUESDAY DEDICATED EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANTS TO THREE LOCAL AGENCIES AS PART OF AN EFFORT TO COMBAT HOMELESS ISSUES IN THE CITY. THE COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED MORE THAN $165,000 TOWARD THE AGENCIES INCLUDING $63,898 TO THE COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, $43,000 TO SAFE PLACE AND $59,000 TO THE SALVATION ARMY OF THE SHOALS. THE CITY IS DISPERSING THE GRANTS THROUGH A PROGRAM WITH THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS.
