THE LAWRENCEBURG CITY COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION TODAY. THE MEETING BEGAN WITH APRIL JUDKINS FROM LAWRENCEBURG CITY OF HOPE ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL ON THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDE AND MAYOR BLAKE LAY ANNOUNCED THAT CITY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY IN OBSERVANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY. MEMBERS THEN AGREED FOR SHELTON BARNETT TO FILL THE VACANCY OF DIRECTOR OF CODES AND PLANNING. A PUBLIC HEARING TOOK PLACE REGARDING THE REZONING OF PROPERTY ON THE WEST SIDE OF FIRST AVENUE AND THE NORTH SIDE OF LAWRENCE STREET TO BE ZONED FROM R3 TO R4. NO COMMENTS WERE HEARD AND THE ORDINANCE LATER PASSED IN IT'S SECOND AND FINAL READING. LEADERS VOTED AND APPROVED ALL ITEMS ON THE LENGTHY AGENDA INCLUDING AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE BUDGET AND RESOLUTIONS AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR VARIOUS GRANTS FOR A QUICK ATTACK PUMPER, EQUIPMENT AND FOR RADIO EQUIPMENT. A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD TO USE TAX INCREMENT FINANCING FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BUILDING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR INDUSTRIAL PROSPECTS ALSO SAW MUCH FAVOR. THE BOARD WILL MEET AGAIN ON JANUARY 28TH.
