Sam David Houston, Jr. born October 13, 1948. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 23, 2020 peacefully at his home. He was the oldest of six children born to the late Sam and Katherine Houston. Sam Jr. loved fishing, his gun collection and most of all hanging out with family.
  He was educated in Giles County Schools. To many of his family and friends in Pulaski, he was known by his nickname “Poonie.” Sam spent most of his adult life residing in Evanston, IL. He worked at Carson Pirie Scott & Co. for 30 years until retirement. Upon retiring in 1998, he returned to his hometown of Pulaski, TN. In 1994, Sam married Marlene Chuck Houston.

Visitation will be 10:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home.

  He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Davis and Mary Katherine Jackson Houston. His sister: Minnie Frances Houston Massey. His first wife of 20 years, Cecilia Miliken Houston; to their union three children were born. One stepson and step-daughter-in-law Robert (Vanessa) Booker.

  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 27 years Marlene Houston. Two daughters Shannel Patrice Houston (Pulaski, TN) and Tanya Denise Houston (Michael Dykes) Evanston, IL. One son Sam David Houston, III (Evanston, IL). Four stepchildren Rodney Booker (New Mexico), Rhonda Booker (Pulaski, TN),  Ronalda Booker and Rochelle Booker (Atlanta, GA). Two brothers: Terry Houston (Pulaski, TN) and Clifton (Octavia) Houston (Tampa, FL). Two sisters: Shirley (Rickie) Brown (Pulaski, TN) and Berenetta Houston (Athens, AL).   Ten sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law. Fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Aunt: Alonza Bell Reed (Pulaski, TN) Uncle: Harrison Jackson (Pulaski, TN) A host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends also survive.
